Ooops!
I love how your first thought was of incurring the wrath of the wife, we've all been there!
A funny story.
Picked up a Deep Blue watch to wear this afternoon.
I set the time and gently shook it. It didn't start.
Gave it a few turns to wind , it didn't start.
Shook it some more. No go.
So, like a typical WIS, started whacking it against the palm of the other hand.
As it didn't start, I started whacking it with more and more force. But, instead of starting
This 250 GM beast flew out of my hand and smashed into the porcelain tile floor with a loud smack. Obviously hit the floor from a height with a great momentum as I was whacking it quite vigorously.
My first thought was ironically for the floor as if the tile was cracked missus wouldn't be happy.
So, I checked out the tile, no damage.
Then, the watch. A slight crack on the ceramic bezel at 30 but more importantly now the watch was running!
I don't what kind of movement it is . I thought it was a Miyota but says a Swiss automatic
Movement on the back. So probably an ETA.
Hope I don't have to drop it on a hard surface to start every time .
Here is a before and after pic.

Doesn't look very ceramic to me – more like sapphire.
Yep, it is, as well as a Sellita SW-200 (ETA 2824 equivalent)

Ouch! luckily you didnt pop an antishock jewel Raj.
I am surprised they didn't teach this technique at school would save me a lot of time servicing watches.
Ouch. Has the date wheel always had bad alignment too?
should be given as a warning for anyone doing the maracas with a Seiko Sea Urchin which I believe goes on in some quarters, very bravely shared and amusingly related. Glad the tiles were ok. Tell the wife you need a new watch.
