Has anyone used Chrono24 to buy a watch?

Stumbled across this site by accident and there are a few watched that catch my eye. Looks like it's private sellers and dealers.

Has anyone ever bought from this site? Trying to gauge opinion before diving in.

    Cheers!

A very well known site for retailers / traders / and private sales.

As always ensure you do your homework, but if anything it will give you an idea of what's out there. .....and there is plenty.
I have used this web site myself to buy ( ex Europe) on a couple of occasions and have had no problems.

Yep, I have once. Great seller.

Thing is, you are pretty much dealing with the seller and not Chrono24.

I suppose it would like someone asking 'Has anyone bought off TZ-UK?'. (if that makes sense)

Re: Has anyone used Chrono24 to buy a watch?

I've bought three watches via Chrono24, two from Trusted Seller and one privately, and all three deals went through smoothly.

In the case of the private sale, the seller lived in the Manchester area like me. So we were able to meet up for me to examine the watch and come to a deal. I'm not sure I would have gone ahead if all communication was via email only.

For the two trusted sellers I checked whether they had their own websites and "bricks and mortar" operations, which both did. I also did some searching on the 'net to see what users on the various watch forums thought of them. They both had good independent reviews so I went ahead with the purchases.

You have to do as much research into the seller that you can and, as is often stated on this forum "buy the seller" before proceeding. However, based on my experience, I would use Chrono24 in the future.

    Cheers Richard

I sell a few on there, it can be a little pricey from the dealers but it is a good source of rare pieces. Just check out the seller as much as you can.

I've used it several times in the past, bought 3 and sold 2, no problems at all.

This Chrono24 'Trusted Seller' can't be trusted, can he?

    A quartz Blancpain?

Either it's a fake or the dealer doesn't know his stock.

If he's been a trusted seller for eight I suspect it's a mistake.

I recently bought my Le Jour Chrono through an add on Chrono24 and the transaction went very well.
The watch was way better than I expected and the seller was a true gentleman.

Ask the seller to take a picture of the watch set to the time and date of your choice - if he's legit he shouldn't have an issue.

If you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable with the transaction or item simply walk away.

A nice site to come across retailers websites but i would not buy from private persons only leaving an unconfirmed phone number

I have bought 3 watches via "trusted folk".......one went missing for 3 months, then turned up to find out that he had put his twist on my home address, infact it was 95% wrong!! One was advertised with box and full papers, all sorts of excuses were used when the watch turned up loose....1 year later and after numerous attempts to raise him I've given up on B n P's. The last one turned up in record time so alls not lost!!!

    Hi,

I've bought two Sinn watches through chrono24, both of them from the same authorised dealer. Got a nice discount on the second one ;)

My friend bought two watches. The trick is that buy from sellers who have been top sellers for more than a year.

Yes, e-mailed a jeweller via the site and managed to get a £350 discount on a watch.

Also good experiences there, but remember you buy the seller, not the site.

Yes I've used it a few times. I've never bought from abroad though and I've always arranged a F2F though even if it meant travelling.
It's been said many times before 'always buy the seller first before the watch.'

Re: Has anyone used Chrono24 to buy a watch?

I've bought watches from dealers who have advertised on there, the first was from a small German dealer, ad was good, everything else checked out, and I found something on their website I wanted. Straightforward transaction. I also bought from a Swiss dealer, again checked out the bricks & mortar and everything else everyone has said so far.

I also bought from a French privateer, which was a little difficult in terms of language and also contentment (on both sides) about payment, and to be fair both of us had to have some faith that it was going to work out. It was a sub- £300 transaction, had it been ten times that I don't think I would have taken the risk- but then that had nothing to do with the seller or C24, just me!

Edit: I think the basic message is, treat it as the shop window it is, and not a shop itself.
