Yes it's a good price on sub 1680
I’m currently on my travels in Vancouver and have been offered a 1970’s Rolex Submariner (date) watch has no box/ papers but am told we can have the watch checked at a local AD to confirm it is the real McCoy. As per condition the watch Im told it has been worn as a daily beater so by no means looking like new, price - with the current exchange rate works out to be around 2,000 GBP. Does that sound like a fair price for a 1970’s Rolex Sub?
I am waiting to hear back with some pictures and more info but for now that’s all I have.
Thanks in advance
Kam

It sounds like a great price for a (1680?) sub, perhaps the price is too good to be true? An AD may not be an expert on vintage pieces. Get some pics of the watch and the movement and one of the experts on here will give you an informed opinion.
I am unsure if it is a 1680 sub, Will need to confirm that with him. I am pretty sure it will need some work doing to it so maybe thats why he is selling at this price, again am told its got some good miles behind it and is no way in great condition.Originally Posted by phil h
That is a great price. Make sure everything is honest and correct
if it's a 16610 from 1970 .....
be careful :-)
there is no internet in this country ... :D
this price is too ....
1970 will be a red sub sounds ify to me red sub are 7k up
Too good to be true, I'd say
Check it out and buy it if genuine.
I'll give you £250 profit when you get back here ok :D
Why would it be a Red Sub, it could be 5512/5513 or even a 5517 wish full thinking though !!
Not with a date it couldn't.....Originally Posted by BW70

My apologies never noticed the brackets
quick update, Im told its an 1950's model not 1970's, does it still sound like a good price with no box and papers and considering its an older model? I wish it was a red sub :D
I will defo have a Rolex AD check the watch and movement to confirm everything is a-ok.
1950 With date ?
I m not specialist but 1680 Start 1960 if remember
1950s?
Any crown guards?
Either the person selling is "exaggerating" a little, or they have no idea what they have, or it really is too good to be true - tread carefully
Gray
Be carefull, it's sound too  to be true...
First sub is 1954 right? but not sure with date...
Either this is too good to be true and the bargain of the decade if it is a Submariner reference 6204, 6200, 6538, 6536, 5508 or 5512 from the 50's
Sounds like a good deal if the AD confirms that it is genuine and that the condition isn't too dire.
I don't think anyone can give you an answer until you have the slightest clue what it actually is!
First Submariner with a date is 1968.
If it's a 1950's rolex with a date and in well used condition then depending on the model you could be paying well over the odds.
This is all speculative though and noone can help you really until you know what it is?
