    iwc pilot !

in a conundrum here so i need a push one way or another!
ive got an iwc pilot mark xvi and im considering flogging or trading it to get a iwc 3717 chrono!,but im in 2 minds about it and have been for a while.ive already got sellers remorse over a zenith grande class that's just left and the funds from that have gone on an order for a new AEgir dive watch!
cant afford both now so what do you guys think? :|

    cheers,craig

I'd keep the IVX as I prefer it to the chrono but I'm not you. I'm me and you're you. :albino:

I think the Mark 16 looks better and i don't really see much need for a chrono, there is not much in the price either,

very wise but you know how this watch addiction works, all sense goes out the window!
i may have to have 2 bottles of vino tonight, order the chrono anyway, i find that the 'what have i done?' feeling eventually goes away.

    thanks and regards,craig

truthfully not very often but its more about it being larger than the 39mm mark 16 and with my recent purchases of big heavy dive watches i like to feel something substantial on the wrist. i think the 3717 is 44mm? i think id get more wear out of the chrono but the 16 is a lovely dress 'back up'.

    Do you need a chrono?
Or do you just like it?

Your service bill when needed, will be hefty!

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

The chrono is 42mm. I have one and it is lovely. I don't use the chrono much but do love the dial.

i agree.the dial is fantastic to look at.its definitely an itch that i'll have to scratch at some point.
not long back there was one on here for around £1800 2006 model i think, i wish id have snapped that up while i had the chance.thats a great price when blowers had one for £3100!
it seems theyre all creeping up in price.

    iwc pilot !

I have a 3171 and it is 42mm. The dial really is a thing of beauty, enhanced by the chronograph rather than the extra dials distracting. Even the little splash of red on the second hand occasionally catches the eye. The weight is good, the bracelet is EXTREMELY expensive, > £1,000, and IMO looks better on black crocodile or rubber & Kevlar like it's ceramic counterpart.

I don't think you'd regret a 3171. They seem IWC's most popular but there are generally fewer second hand than you'd expect.

The 3717 is a stunning watch I owned for a relatively short period though it felt perfect.

    Why?

I found it (perhaps wrongly) too dainty for a daily wearer which was the reason I got it in the first place.

    Re: iwc pilot !

I think the xvi beats out the chrono any day of the week. I considered buying a chrono before I got the 16 and I am glad I made the choice I did (although I have nothing against the 3717 which is a superb watch).

Do you really have to ask!

Seriously, they are both stunning, you should go with the one that sings to you.
