Very nice example with superb patina. Enjoy!
Okay, I'm going to do the right thing, and come clean.
Some time ago, I made one of (what I consider to be) my rare mistakes, and sold a watch that I was really unhealthily fond of.
Tonight I had an opportunity to put it right, with another 1966-vintage, 2nd generation Navitimer housing the famous Venus 178 movement complete with a nice old green Breitling box. Recently serviced but with the dial left untouched (I have a suspicion that it's predecessor's had been given a clean) I couldn't say no, and this takes me up past six watches once again. Well, with the PRS-68 it makes eight. And the Nomos Orion Datum that I seem to have taken in trade for my 380 would, in a sense, make nine. (Some would say the two G-Shocks make eleven, I imagine.)
My name is learningtofly, blah blah blah... (Oh, and there's a blog post here for anyone interested.)
Very nice example with superb patina. Enjoy!
I thought this was going to be about spreadsheets an £9.5k profits! Lol
Good to have you back. Can't wait to see what's next . Oh great watch too.
Lol, I knew you wouldn't stick to 6! Though 11 already! That was even quicker than I thought you'd last. :-)
Having said that, another beaut, so Gratz!
ps: I have a feeling I may have been eyeing this one up also at the last GTG!
Wish I had had the funds as it's very very nice......

My god, what a stunner! Nice to have you with an incoming again! :D
So earlier today when you turned down my Movado as it would break your '6' rule...
Tuts and shakes head, there's no helpin' ya.
That was as pathetic as any attempt I've made to stop drinking. At least I had the good grace to keep my impending failure to myself.
Nice watch though!
Great watch and pics.
As for sticking to the plan- epic fail:-)
Such plans based on an arbitrary number rarely work or make sense! You've been in hobby long enough to know better!
My plan is don't have a plan. I've tried sticking to 4 main watches etc but it never works.
I have to say it's not my favourite watch this one Tony but then again I seem to go for mainly Omega or Heuer when it comes to vintage. Enjoy.
Have you told Foxy 100 yet? Can I be around when you do. Lovely watch by the way, congratulations on falling off the wagon...
Not the biggest Navitimer fan, but the pics are good.
Have 5* on me and that should boost your ratings and massage that ego.
Take it back and ask for a refund – it's clearly not fit for purpose*.
Even your photographic ability can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, on this one.
That dial has a face only its maker could love, even without the ingrained dirt.
BTW, how does doing a trade equate to an additional piece in the collection?
* Purpose in this instance is producing pretty images for others to drool over.
Is there a shaking of the head smilie?
How long did it actually last before you caved Tony mate?!
Lovely watch though... even if Breitling don't really do it for me personally I can certainly appreciate why you would want it.
Rob
so tony....not about your love for jocke. lol
Congrats! This looks very nicely aged watch!
Rubbish effort....now go stand in the corner
Eleven is an odd number (in both senses) for a collection. I'd keep going to 15.
Sounds like a SOTC is needed.. I am totally lost as to what you actually currently own :)
Life would be boring if you actually stuck to your self imposed limits :)
Take it slowly towards 20. Then you might sail onwards rather than bouncing off the buffer back to 6
Very nice!
Really nice unmolested Navi and one of the three all time greatest chronos, congrats Tony.
Nice!
When I picked this up from Howard a couple of evenings ago, it was on a brown OEM leather strap that was far too long for me. The only 22mm strap in my watch box was a black Zulu which - as you can see above - looked great, but yesterday I was thinking that I needed to hope that a black Bob or Panatime would pop up on SC, and that I'd be quick enough to pounce if it did.
Ten minutes later I scanned the latest threads on SC, and there it was (and now, here it is)
Lets see it then!
BTW - just out of interest, what's the new avatar Tony?
Rob
**Oh, see it now - very nice!**
It looks fabulous (on all three of the straps).
I second the call for an updated SOTC.
It's actually from the cover of Floyd's original promo EP for Learning To Fly, as it happens.
I may do one soon - just waiting for something...
The old Navis look great on a Zulu/NATO, although I rarely see anyone else wearing then that way. I nearly left it as it was, in fact.
